Is Pinterest here to stay ????

As we discussed in class last week, Pinterest is a fast growing social media site. It was reported that the site set the record for the “fastest standalone website to surpass the 10 million mark” (http://www.prdaily.com/Main/Articles/10784.aspx).  Read the following articles and use the following questions to craft your blog post. Do you see PR value in Pinterest? Please describe why/why not. Do you think it is a fad that will be here today and gone in a few months? Do you have your own Pinterest account? How often do you use it, repin or like items, etc.? Would you recommend Pinterest to others (friends, co-workers, etc.)? Why/why not?

I really love everything about Pinterest!  I think it’s a great way for many companies to get their product out to their consumers. I personally love to look at outfits and new recipes I can try at home. I love pictures and consider myself a visual person so Pinterest makes it very easy for me to find many things I need. I see Pinterest being a great PR value because it is a free way for customers to get their brand to the public. I think Pinterest is going to stay around if the creators are able to find ways to keep users interest by offering new things to their website. I currently have a Pinterest account and I use it almost every day. If I find something I love I always repin, I currently found myself spreading the word about Pinterest to friends and family members all the time now. It can get addictive at times because I can stay on this website for hours.

Going Back In Time

If time travel were possible, what would you do? Where would you go? Why did you choose to visit there? If you were to go back in time, would you worry about how one small change could affect the future?

This is a very interesting topic this week! I think I would travel to many countries and try to accomplish everything on my bucket list. I feel as though I would not go back to change one small event because I feel that everything happens for a reason. I love I am very open-minded and love meeting new people. If possible I would like to pause or rewind time because there have been many times I have wanted to relive a special moment that took place in my life.

I would really love to go back to the time when the Spice Girls were popular and see them on their world tour concert

I would love to hear Martin Luther King speech for I Have a Dream

I would go back in time when gas was really cheap

I also would love to visit Jamaica and attend a Bob Marley concert.

 

These are a few things I would love to go back in time and try to make happen if I could!

Valentines Day !!!!!

This day of romance has been celebrated for years and there are many theories as to how this day of love got its start. What are some of the best and worst gifts you have received on Valentine’s Day? When you receive something you don’t particularly like, do you let the giver know? If so, how?

From a public relations standpoint, if you worked for a greeting card company, florist or chocolate manufacturer, how would you persuade the public to buy from you rather than your competition?

 Some of the best gifts I have received for Valentine’s Day have to be my Adidas jacket and rain boots and the worst gift would have to be teddy bears. I hate regular gifts like chocolate and flowers. Any gift is a nice jester but the best gifts are ones that you can tell had thought behind them and take effort to find.  From a public relations standpoint, I feel as though Valentine’s Day is a great way to get many people to spend money. If I worked for a greeting card company I would be sure to get customer feedback before the big day, and I would see what customers want in the cards they buy. As a florist or chocolate manufacturer I believe it is important to offer customers quality at all times. It is also important to be able to assure customers they will get their orders in a timely manner. I would also want to make sure customers feel appreciated every time they spend money on any of services, and I would do so by giving coupons and discounted services.

1)Chewing gum very loud

2) Snoring

3) The person who tells you all about a movie before you get to watch it

How has social media changed the PR world?

How has social media changed the PR world? In your opinion, are the changes for the better or the worse?  Due to the fact that anyone can have a social media account, many believe they can take on these responsibilities without a background in public relations. What do you think about individuals/companies that employ social media, but don’t have a background in public relations? Do you think this hurts the company/individual?

I think social media has changed the PR World for better and worse.  I think social media is a great way for an individual or companies to reach a bigger audience. It gives a voice and allows people express and shares their views with the world. I do believe when it comes to a corporate account, people without a background in public relations should not be in charge of them. It is very important for companies to hire a social media specialist that will do a good job representing the company in a positive light. A person with a PR relation background understands how important their customers are and know how to approach them in a positive way that could possibly help their company.  I do think that social media can hurt a company if they don’t hire someone with experience. In our book about social media a company had an employee who was in charge of their Facebook page and decided to argue with a customer. The customer is always right and a person with a PR background makes sure to always make sure the customer’s needs are satisfied.
